Musical Director

Marc started performing at the age of 7 and has been given the opportunity to take the lead in many productions since then including Tony in West Side Story. With a local theatre company, Marc was the “Cat in the Hat” in Seussical the Musical and then realised that the stage wasn’t for him.

He then went on to take on the role of head piano and AMD on Big Time 2007 and more recently, MD and Conductor of High School Musical, and after a well deserved break from directing, he was back at the baton for Copacabana in April 2009.

Having trained as a classical conductor, Marc has much experience working with bands, choirs and orchestras alike. As a choral conductor, Marc has experience with adult and youth choirs and has a wide repertoire of both classical and more popular music.

As a singer, Marc has grade 8’s in Classical and Musical Theatre singing and teaches singing and vocal technique as well as Musical theory privately.

He has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe and has performed in some of the great venues of the world including the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), Millennium Centre (Cardiff) and the o2 Arena (London).

He has performed with the BBC and has been under the baton of many famous conductors.

With a theatre company in Burgess Hill, he now teaches Musical Theatre and works as a dance teacher for a gymnastics club on the South Coast

Marc also runs his own music organisation Music Boost – giving people the Boost into Music that they may need!

Marc is currently in training in musical theatre at the Southern Theatre Arts Centre and has recently taken one of the leads in the Southern Premier Production of Bare with them as well as being a featured soloist and MD on their recent agent showcase which was shown in Brighton and London.

Marc feels privileged to now be working as Musical Director of The Sandgate Singers and would like to thank the committee for all their hard work, as well as thanking his friends and family for their never ending support!

Accompanist

The choir is also pleased to welcome its new accompanist, Jeremy Weaver. A trained organist, accompanist and organ teacher, Jeremy is currently director of Music at Horsham Parish Church. His valuable experience of working with and training choristers, taking part in choir festivals and choir tours is a great asset to Sandgate and they look forward to rehearsing and performing concerts with him.
